Chittoor police crack mobile phones consignment dacoity case

In a big victory for Chittoor police, a mobile phone consignment dacoity case has been cracked down and three people have been arrested. 'KanjarBhat gang' in Madhya Pradesh's Dewas district is behind these phones heist.

Chittoor: The Andhra Pradesh Police busted an inter-state dacoity gang involved in mobile phones consignment dacoity case. The matter was reported in Chittoor district on August 15th.

The case trial took the Chittoor district police teams all the way to Madhya Pradesh, where they arrested three Kanjarbhat interstate dacoity gang members responsible for the mobile phone heist executed by the gang in Chittoor district.

The incident goes back to August when a team of unidentified thieves interrupted a truck carrying mobile and robbed away phones worth Rs 7 crore rupees near Nagari in Chittoor district. The container was heading from Chennai to Mumbai.

In another incident, cell phones worth Rs 80 lakh were stolen at Guntur district when the truck was heading towards Kolkata.

Following the robbery, the Chittoor police constituted a special team to crack down the dacoits. The matter was investigated from all the angles and perspective and reached to a conclusion that such major theft was the work of seasoned highway dacoity gangs from the northern parts of the country.

The inquiries have revealed that the 'KanjarBhat gang' in Madhya Pradesh's Dewas district is behind these phones heist. After taking help from Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra and the Madhya Pradesh police, Chittoor police cracked down on KanjarBhat gang and arrested three people in this regard.

"The three accused have been identified as Ram Gadhe, Ankit Jhaja and Rohit Jhala. Police have seized more than 10,000 mobile phones worth Rs 15 crore, two trucks and a car from their possession. Mobile phones were also seized from dacoits in Pune and Indore," said Police Officer Shiv Dayal Singh.

He added, "All the three accused will be produced before the court and the hunt for the rest of the accused who is still at large is on."

In another crackdown, the Dewas police have busted another gang involved in the theft of mobile phones. Cops revealed that the gang used to roam at night, threaten the drivers and commit robbery. According to the FIR registered at the Tokpur police station in Dewas, the inter-state gang had committed thefts in different parts of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Maharashtra.

Shiv Dayal Singh, Dewas SP, said, "We are carrying out blow-up operations for the rest of the fugitives."
