New Delhi: Stepping up its attack Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the border standoff with China, former Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday accused him of 'demolishing' the established institutional structure of diplomacy. Accusing PM Modi of 'destroying' India's position and 'betraying our Army' by accepting Beijing's stand that it did not occupy any Indian land, he said that the entire border stand-off is a complete failure of India's foreign policy.

While addressing the Congress Working Committee meeting, Gandhi said, "PM has destroyed our position and betrayed our Army by accepting their position that they occupied no Indian land."

He further stated, "Chinese can't be permitted to get away with this unacceptable usurpation of our land. Everything needs to be done to ensure that sacrifice of our martyrs is not in vain."

"The established institutional structure of diplomacy has been demolished by the PM. Our relations with our once friendly neighbours have been disrupted and relationship with our traditional allies has been interrupted."

The Congress leader suggested that along with maintaining good relationship with US, India must also maintain good relations with its old friends.

During the CWC meeting, a resolution was passed by the party, stating, "China has brazenly occupied our territory, including the Galwan Valley, by resorting to unilateral and unprovoked acts of transgressions and incursions which cannot be tolerated. The Central Government is duty-bound to protect every inch of our territory and repulse every intrusion firmly and decisively."

"Prime Minister's statement of denying any Chinese intrusion has had far reaching implications. PM cannot allow his words to be used by Chinese as a vindication of their position, when it's clear that brazen transgressions were committed by them and our armed forces were and are, steadfastly and resolutely defending our territorial integrity," said Congress General Secretary, KC Venugopal during the CWC press briefing.

The CWC also posed a set of questions from the Central Government regarding the Indo-China dispute, asking, "On how many occasions have transgressions been committed or attempted by the Chinese forces into our territory in Galwan valley and Pangong Tso Lake since April-May 2020?"

In another question, Congress asked, "Why did PM state at All-party meeting that "no one has intruded into our territory"? Why were these words later deleted by PMO from the official statement? Why did PM contradict the earliest statement of his own Defense Minister and the External Affairs Minister on Chinese incursions?"

Congress also urged the Government to share it's future strategy to ensure the status quo ante in the Laddakh region. "India's territorial integrity is non negotiable CWC hopes that PM will uphold his promise that the Sacrifice Of Our brave soldiers will not go in vain," said Venugopal.

In addition to that, Congress Chief Spokesperson Randeep Surjewala alleged that China has attempted brazen transgressions into the Indian Territory for 2064 times since 2015, when PM Modi got in power, while Pakistan has done ceasefire violation for 3289 times, within an year.

"BJP and it's leaders don't have any answer to this. They only talk about pseudo nationalism," said Surjewala. (WITH INPUTS FROM PTI)
