Raigarh: After heavy rains battered 28 villages of Chhattisgarh, the life of people has turned upside down leaving behind a huge trail of destruction. A large number of people have been rendered homeless and huge hectares of crops have been destroyed. Tonnes of crops are on the verge of getting ruined.

Nearly 12,000 houses in various districts of the state were partially or completely damaged due to the incessant rainfall and thousands of people were shifted to relief camps. The floods had hit the state when it was already reeling under the coronavirus pandemic.

Meanwhile, locals have alleged that they have not received any financial assistance from the concerned authorities.

"Earlier too, floods have ravaged Chhattisgarh but we got help from the state government as elections were coming near. But now, there are no polls scheduled in the near future and hence, we have not received any help. The government extended help to us in 2011 and 2014 when floods had hit the state. Paddy, fruits and vegetables have been destroyed," the farmers told ETV Bharat.
