New Delhi:Accusing the Central Government for the violence that has erupted in North-East Delhi, Bhim Army Chief Chandrashekhar Azad has said that if the Government would have wanted, the carnage could have been prevented. The government wants to instil fear among people who are protesting against the CAA and NRC so that they would give up the protests, he claimed.
''On February 23, Bharat Bandh was called by the Bhim Army for reservation in which no loss was reported. But, in order to suppress the entire issue Bhartiya Janta Party induced violence the very next day so that the anti-CAA and NRC protesters were compelled to leave the venue," said Azad while addressing the media.

''We demand strict action against the culprits and compensation of at least one crore rupees for the deceased's family," he said.
Commenting on the controversial remarks made by BJP leader Kapil Mishra, Azad said that,''He should have complained to the Police or the authorities if he had problems. What was the need to take law and order in hands? Now, the whole Delhi has to pay for it''.
Making an appeal to the people of Delhi to maintain peace and unity, he said,'' We are constantly in touch with the people of the North-east Delhi and we are making arrangements for accommodation and food for the victims. We have also opened the Valmiki and Ravidas temple to extend our support to the needy."
