In connection with this, Observer Research Foundation's (ORF) Director Prof Harsh V. Pant in conversation with ETV Bharat said, "Firstly, he will have to wait for the new government to settle in and see whether there is any possibility of dialogue between India and Pakistan. He has to establish new channels of communication so dialogues can move forward between both the countries."

When asked what approach should Pakistan's new envoy to India should adopt for engagement, Prof. Pant claimed, "Pakistan has to recognise that it won't be business as usual with India. They have to figure out a way of answering India's concern. One can look today at Pakistan as a country which is under extreme stress. The IMF deal which they signed has generated a lot of controversies. There is a lot of challenges lying ahead of him."

He even added saying that Pakistan should not only recognise India as their important neighbour but also as the largest economy in the region which can provide help in a profound way.

Moin-Ul-Haq is Pakistan's current ambassador to France. He joined Pakistan's Foreign Service in 1987 and had served in Canada, Turkey and Sri Lanka.

The post of High Commissioner to India fell vacant after Sohail Mehmood was appointed as Pakistan's Foreign Secretary in April.
