New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday said that the Union government is taking all possible measures to ensure normalcy in price surge and supply of onions across the nation. BJP further asserted that the issue should not be politicised.
Speaking exclusively with ETV Bharat, senior BJP leader Bizay Sonkar Shastri said that the whole nation has witnessed how extreme rainfall across the nation has destroyed the crop this year, resulting in a shortage of the essential kitchen item.
Minister for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Ram Vilas Paswan has been taking all necessary steps to ensure the normal supply of onion, he said, adding that onion export has been completely stopped and Central government is currently importing onion to control the rise in prices.
"Government is doing everything possible to normalise the situation," he stated.
People across the nation have been under continuous stress because of the increasing prices of onion. The issue has also been raised in the Parliament during the on-going winter session.
