New Delhi: The Centre on Tuesday, informed the Supreme Court that it is considering UPSC aspirants' demand for an extra attempt in the year 2021, as COVID-19 pandemic disrupted their preparation during the current year and they won't be eligible to appear next year due to age limit.

The bench led by Justice AM Khanwilkar disposed of the plea filed by 24 UPSC aspirants seeking an extra attempt as the centre is already considering their demands. However, the court also granted the aspirants liberty to approach it again, in case they are not satisfied.

"We leave it to the competent authorities to assuage the grievance of the petitioners, as brought before this court in the present writ petition appropriately. If the proposed decision does not fulfil the aspirations of the petitioners, it will be open to them to challenge that part of the decision," ordered the court.
