New Delhi: On the day when Supreme Court has asked Delhi Police to decide if farmers unions can carry out a tractor rally on Republic Day, Congress MP Gurjeet Singh Aujla has argued, on Monday, that it is the Constitutional right of the farmers, urging the Police to "coordinate" with the farmers so that they can lead a peaceful march.
While the farmers' groups have already said that they are determined to carry out a tractor march on the outer Ring Road in Delhi, assuring that the protest remains peaceful, the Government is against the idea saying that Section 144 will be imposed in the national capital.
Speaking to ETV Bharat, Gurjeet Singh Aujla said, "It is their constitutional right. Yesterday they have made it clear that they are going to have a peaceful protest. On Republic Day, this Government can take out a tableau of farmers but these farmers can't take out their rally on that day? I've said it earlier as well that police should coordinate with the protesting farmers to chalk out a plan so that there should be no traffic interruption on that day."
The tenth round of meeting between the Central Government and farmers unions is going to be held on January 19. However, the opposition party has said that it has no hopes of getting any solution to end this deadlock, a video of Gurjeet Singh Aujla has got viral just a day before the meeting.
Replying to this question, Aujla said, "This is the only thing which BJP does. Sometimes, they call these farmers Naxalites, sometimes they become Khalistani. I've just said that almost 80 farmers have died. But it has been misrepresented by the media. It is also possible that such posters have been put up by those people who want to malign farmers' image."

The Congress MP also attacked Republic TV editor-in-chief, Arnab Goswami, over his leaked WhatsApp chats with former Chief of BARC Partho Dasgupta, in which he was privy to the Balakot airstrike.
He said, "Sedition charges should be imposed over Arnab Goswami. He should be questioned how he got to know about the Balakot airstrike 3 days prior. On one side, our soldiers laid down their lives while he is getting TRP for his channel."
When asked about Senior Congress leader Kapil Sibal's remarks over the internal elections in Congress party, Aujla said, "This is a matter of All India Congress Committee. Election dates will be decided by the party."
Sibal, in an interview, said that there is still no clarity on party's internal elections, citing "disenchantment" within the party.
