Kanpur: Men of Baduapur, Panki Padwa, Jamui and Sarayamita villages located alongside the Delhi National Highway in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh struggle hard to find brides and the reason behind this issue has been staggering minds.
Thanks to Kanpur Municipal Corporation and their solid waste management plant situated nearby, the men roam around unmarried because nobody is ready to give their girls in the wedding.
People living in these villages have been haunted by dirt and foul smell and suffer from unhygienic surroundings which result in diseases.
The solid waste management plant of Kanpur city spreads filth and diseases to these adjacent villages. People do come here looking for prospective grooms but after seeing the surroundings, the families never return back on the alliance because they don't want their girls to live in these horrible conditions.
Besides, most of the people of these villages are in the grip of serious illnesses, which also thwarts the possible marriage alliances from happening.
A lot many boys in these villages are roaming around unmarried.
A woman from the village says that she has asthma due to garbage plant and her son, an eligible bachelor, is not getting any proposals because of the disease and filth all around.
When the matter was discussed with Municipal Commissioner Santosh Sharma, he acknowledged the city's garbage is being dumped here. However, he refused to take any responsibility over the health and hygiene issues of surrounding villages. He merely said that there will be a health camp set up for all the people residing in the surroundings and health hazards will be monitored.
The villagers say that they have pleaded the administration about the problem of the garbage plant numerous times to no avail.
Every time, they took up the issue, they are promised of solutions which never happened.
The villagers are still hopeful that some miracle might happen and their problems will be resolved so that their boys will get suitable brides in the near future.
