Jaipur: The Rajasthan High Court on Friday ordered status quo to be maintained in the disqualification case against Sachin Pilot and 18 other dissident Congress MLAs. The BJP has supported and welcomed the order.

Speaking to ETV Bharat, BJP's national spokesperson Sudesh Verma commented that the High Court's decision should be accepted by all and it is good for democracy. Congress should not blame anyone for the decision, he said.

With this order, the High Court has barred Speaker CP Joshi from acting on the July 14 disqualification notices. The order came after the high court agreed to Pilot’s request to make Centre a party to the case.

Pilot and 18 other dissident MLAs had challenged a disqualification notice given by the Speaker in the high court. The notice was given on the request of Congress’ chief whip who said that Pilot and his supporters did not attend the party’s CLP meetings.

On Friday, HC also allowed the petition filed by the Pilot camp to add the Union of India as a respondent to the case given the challenge to the paragraph 2(1)(a) of the Tenth Schedule of the Constitution of India, which deals with anti-defection.

Although the BJP is saying that it has nothing to do with the High Courts' order but somewhere the party also got relief and an opportunity to accuse the Congress.
