New Delhi: Amid the high political drama in Rajasthan, Congress on Saturday alleged that Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) is making efforts to shift its rebel MLAs of Rajasthan to Karnataka.
Addressing a press conference, Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera said that when the Special Operations Group (SOG) of Rajasthan police reached Haryana's ITC Hotel of Manesar to question the legislators regarding the audiotapes, in an alleged conspiracy to topple the state Government, the lawmakers didn't allow them to enter.
"For the first time in history, the police of another state actively blocked Rajasthan Police and surreptitiously allowed the MLAs to escape through back door. BJP officially misused its machinery in Haryana to block the open investigation into the matter," he added.
The Congress leader alleged that BJP is attempting to poach Congress MLAs and trying to shift them to their ruling state Karnataka.
"We cannot allow BJP to kidnap our MLAs and to create a crisis in the state. A party whose sole objective is to win elections and not to govern the country can go to any extent. Even if they lose elections, they try to subvert democratic processes. Therefore it is our only duty to protect our MLAs from the evil designs," said Khera.

He also accused Sachin Pilot of 'trusting' Haryana police more than Rajasthan police and for being in patronage of BJP ruled state. On one hand, Khera asserted that the party doors are still not closed for him, while on the other, he questioned why are BJP's lawyers representing him for his legal battle in Rajasthan High court.
Earlier today, BJP demanded a CBI enquiry into the matter of audio tapes for which Congress alleged that BJP was in collusion with its rebel MLAs to bring down Rajasthan government.
In a scathing reply to BJP, Khera said, "Today, they admitted their role in the murder of democracy in Rajasthan. It's like a murderer saying the witness who saw him committing a murder, 'did he not violate my privacy when he peeped into my room'."
Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati also commented upon the ongoing political crisis in Rajasthan by alleging CM Ashok Gehlot of having acted illegally in the phone tapping row and called for President's rule in the state.
"She has her own fears and helplessness. That is why she is making such statements to help BJP," replied Pawan Khera.
