New Delhi: Defending the government's decision concerning curbs in Jammu and Kashmir post abrogation of article 370 in view of the Supreme Court directing the local administration to review within a week all orders imposing restrictions, the BJP on Friday said that apex court has just asked to maintain 'fine balance between liberty and security'.
"We would wait for the review committee to give its report on the matter. The court has observed that there should be a fine balance between liberty and security," Sambit Patra, BJP spokesperson told reporters here in a press conference.
He said the party would like to congratulate the government to have faced 'huge challenge successfully'.
"The government has faced a huge challenge successfully," he said, adding that there has been no violence after the abrogation of article 370 and no life was lost in this connection.
Slamming the opposition, the BJP leader said that they would term every other person a 'dictator' than the separatists.
Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was seen shaking hands with Yasin Malik, a separatist leader, he said.
"Gone are those days. It's not the time for separatists, it's time for 'Vikas' (development). It's our aim and we will take it forward," Patra said.
Earlier in the day, the Supreme Court asked the Jammu and Kashmir administration to review all orders imposing curbs in the union territory, saying that access to the Internet is a fundamental right under article 19 of the constitution.
