BJP issues whip to Rajya Sabha MPs, asks them to be present in House today

A three-line whip was issued to the Rajya Sabha MPs by the Bharatiya Janata Party asking them to be present in the House on Friday. The sittings of the Rajya Sabha, which were earlier scheduled up to July 26 have been extended up to August 7 to transact essential government legislative business.

New Delhi: BJP on Thursday issued a three-line whip for its Rajya Sabha MPs asking them to be present in the House on Friday.

Earlier on Thursday, the Congress party had also issued a whip to its Rajya Sabha MPs asking them to be present in the House from 11 am to the time of adjournment of the House from August 1-7.

The sittings of the Rajya Sabha, which were earlier scheduled up to July 26 has been extended up to August 7 to transact essential government legislative business.

The Central government on Tuesday scored a major victory in the Rajya Sabha on the back of cracks in the opposition when the House passed the Triple Talaq Bill after rejecting the opposition's demand to refer the Bill to the Select Committee.
