New Delhi: The BJP on Monday expressed confidence that the Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) would get passed in the parliament.
"The bill is not against any religion or community as was being alleged by the opposition parties," he said, adding that the BJP-led NDA government has the required number in both the houses of the parliament to get it passed.
The BJP leader also exuded confidence concerning the party's performance in Karnataka by-polls, held on December 5, and in the on-going Jharkhand Assembly elections.
Islam said his party was surging ahead in 12 of 15 constituencies in Karnataka, where counting of votes for the by-polls was on. He said after a non-BJP government was formed in Maharashtra, people had started saying that the BJP was shrinking and losing its base, which was not true."
The way BJP is winning seats in Karnataka and the way popularity of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is rising, it becomes very clear that the party would form government in Jharkhand," Islam asserted.
He said the BJP and the Prime Minister were popular among the masses because of the work that has been ever since it came to power.
