New Delhi: Congress's chief spokesperson Randeep Surjewala taking a jibe at Home Minister Amit Shah said that NDA constituents and chief ministers of the ruling BJP were not accepting the amended Citizenship Act but Prime Minister Narendra Modi and he continued to abuse the opposition.

He said, "Amit Shahji, Modiji and you have been made by the public to work as prime minister and home minister and not abuse the opposition leaders."

Surjewala further added "Your allies are not accepting the divisive CAA, your own chief ministers are not accepting the CAA," said Congress's chief spokesperson Randeep Surjewala referring to Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal for not accepting CAA in his state.

Surjewala made the comment a day after he challenged PM Narendra Modi to dismiss Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal for saying that he would not allow foreigners to settle in his state.

Hitting out at Amit Shah, another Congress spokesperson Gourav Vallabh said, "There is no benefit of Congressmen by supporting those students who protested against CAA."

Congress spokesperson Gourav Vallabh

"Instead of pointing out at Congress, he (Shah) should look after the country's growing unemployment, increased in fares of rail tickets and rising inflation"

Surjewala earlier dared Modi to dismiss his own chief minister for openly opposing the amended Citizenship Act and declare him an "anti-national" for doing so.

"Mr Prime Minister, Stop fooling India! Your own CM is openly opposing CAA. Will you now declare him 'anti-national'? I challenge you to dismiss him before criticising the opposition," he wrote on Twitter.

pic.twitter.com/sbPEmCBsMN

Surjewalal remarks came after Home Minister Amit Shah has launched a fierce attack on Congress and opposition while addressing a rally in support of CAA, against which the country has seen violent protests over several weeks.

In the rally Shah throwing a challenge to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for debate, said, "Rahul Baba kanoon padha hai toh kahin par bhi charcha karne ke liye aajao. Nahi padha hai toh main Italian mein bhi iska anuvaad karke apko bhej deta hun, usko padh lijiye (Rahul Baba, if you have read the law please come anywhere for a debate on it. If you haven't read the law, I can help you with an Italian translation of it, please read the law)."

The BJP chief went on with his attack on Congress and said, "For vote-bank politics, Congress party is speaking against a great personality like Veer Savarkar as well. Congressmen should be ashamed of themselves."
