"Netaji has not only been a pride of Bengal but for the entire nation and this is something the BJP has been saying ever since the party was in opposition," he said.

"No matter what Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee says, the public knows everything that which party has done what to maintain the legacy of Subhash Chandra Bose. The central government always feels proud of Netaji's legacy and considers him the pride of the nation," he added.

It is worth mentioning here that a Union Ministry of Culture notification said on Tuesday: "In order to honour and remember Netaji's indomitable spirit and selfless service to the nation, the government has decided to celebrate his birthday on the 23rd day of January every year as Parakram Diwas to inspire people of this country, especially the youth, to act with fortitude in the face of adversity as Netaji did, and to infuse in them a spirit of patriotic favour."
