Opposition remembers poor only during elections: PM Modi

Addressing an election rally in Bihar on Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, "Be it Swachh Bharat, Jan Dhan, Ayushman, these people have opposed every plan, mocked it."

Referring to the opposition, he went on to add, "They have nothing to do with the suffering of the poor. The poor only remember them in elections. When the election is over, they just sit with their family clan."

"Today, Bihar has 'double-engine ki sarkar'. On the other hand, there are two 'Yuvaraj' of whom one is from 'jungle raj', the double-engine NDA government is committed to the development of Bihar and these double Yuvaraj are fighting to save their throne" said PM Narendra Modi in Chhapra, Bihar while addressing a public rally.  

"You must have seen 3-4 years ago during UP election, double Yuvaraj there as well, climbed on top of the bus, wore black jackets and used to visit villages while waving," he added.

Bihar Polls LIVE: PM Modi to address four rallies in Bihar

Patna (Bihar): Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address four back to back rallies in Bihar today to garner support for the NDA candidates in the poll-bound state.

Modi will start his election tour with a rally in Chapra, the political bastion of RJD supremo Lalu Prasad.

From Chapra, he will go to Samastipur to address a public meeting in Housing Board ground, then at Gandhi maidan in Motihari and will end the campaign trip with a rally in Bagaha.

According to sources in the JD(U) in Patna, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar will accompany Modi in Samastipur and Bagaha meetings.

Campaigning for the second phase will end also end today evening.

Modi will address a rally at Airport ground in Chapra, which has been the political "karmabhoomi" (place of work) of the jailed RJD president. Prasad had taken a plunge into electoral politics with a win from Chapra Lok Sabha seat in 1977 at an age of 29.

Additional District Magistrate of Saran said that COVID protocols would be followed strictly at the PM's rally. A total of 25,000 chairs have been kept in the ground at a safe distance from each other besides nobody would be allowed inside the venue without a face mask, the ADM said.

District Magistrate of East Champaran district Shirsat Kapil and Superintendent of Police Navin Chandra Jha held a meeting with the senior district officials on PM's public meeting at Gandhi Maidan Sunday. Samastipur District Magistrate Shashan Subhankar said that COVID related restrictions would be abided by strictly in the Prime Minister's rally Sunday.

The Bagaha rally will take place at Baba Bhoothnath college ground.

This will be Modi's third election tour of Bihar. He addressed rallies at Dehri, Gaya and Bhagalpur on October 23 and came to the state again on October 28 to attend election meetings in Darbhanga, Muzaffarpur and Patna.
