New Delhi: Union Minister for IT and Communication Ravi Shankar Prasad on Tuesday interacted with state IT ministers amid the pandemic outbreak. He acknowledged that work from home for IT firms which was scheduled to conclude on April 30 has now been extended till July 31.
During his interaction with State IT ministers, IT officials, Union minister claimed that major opportunities in the electronic manufacturing sector are likely to open for India soon.
He said, ”The condition of China is such and considering people’s anger against China, the opportunity is going come to India. The ministry has given incentives and cooperation from states will play an important role.”
The Union Minister for Electronics and IT further said his ministry is constantly monitoring the spread of fake news on social media platforms. Prasad said States have been highly appreciative of the Aarogya Setu app and he assured them that a similar solution for feature phones is being developed and will be launched soon. The Aarogya Setu app has over 50 million downloads already.
Summing up his interaction with the State IT ministers to discuss challenges and road map in the backdrop of coronavirus pandemic, Prasad said it has been decided that the IT ministry along with NIC will come out, in 3-4 days' time, with an app that will facilitate sharing of best practices.
