Bengal man arrested for spreading fake news over Covid-19

Bengal police has arrested a man from Burdwan for reportedly spreading fake news that a man has died in the district. The convict confessed that he received the information on phone from WhatsApp and he later uploaded it on social media.

Burdwan(West Bengal): Memari Police arrested a man for reportedly posting fake news on facebook related to the death of a man in the district. The accused has been identified as Shambhunath Pan and he hails from Machipara area of ​​Burdwan .

According to police sources, Pan has been spreading fake news that one person had died of corona at Burdwan which got viral on social media. He has been taken into custody.

Confessing his crime, Pan said,"I received the news on my phone and then I uploaded it on facebook. News was sent to me by Yogamaya Ghosh on whatsapp".

District Police Superintendent Bhaskar Mukhopadhyay said, "One person has been arrested for posting fake news of a death over coronavirus on social media and he will be presented to court".
