Thiruvananthapuram: In a first of its kind move in the country, Attingal Municipal Council initiated a new protocol of concluding its regular council meeting procedures by singing National Anthem, from Wednesday.
It is for the first time in India that a Local Self Government body council meet included National Anthem in its agenda. Hereafter, every council meeting here in Attingal, a municipality in Thiruvananthapuram district, Kerala, would conclude with the National Anthem.
Municipal Chairman M Pradeep stated that the decision was taken intended to inculcate a sense of patriotism in the generations to come, by setting precedence.
The new procedure has come into effect with the conclusion of the Municipal Council meeting here on Wednesday, the 10th of June 2020.
