Srinagar: An IAF chopper crashed on Wednesday in Budgam district of Jammu and Kashmir, killing at least two persons, officials told PTI.
The chopper crashed in an open field near Garend Kalaan village in Budgam at 10.05 am, the officials said.
It was an Mi-17 transport chopper, news agency ANI reported.
The aircraft broke into two and caught fire immediately, the officials said, adding two bodies were seen near the site crash.
"As of now we are not in a position to ascertain anything. Technical team is here, they will ascertain facts. We have found 2 bodies so far and have evacuated them. Search is going on here," Budgam's SSP told ANI.
The identity of the deceased could not be confirmed immediately, officials told PTI, adding the fate of the pilots was not known.
