Paternal uncle assaults child, arrested

According to first-hand accounts of the incident, the accused reached the child's house by evening and called him out of the house. However, when the child refused to go out, the accused entered the house and hit the child's head on the floor.

Idukki: A five-year-old boy, son of an Assam native, residing at Thodupuzha Undaplavu, in Idukki district of Kerala was brutally beaten up by his paternal uncle. The accused man, Imdad ul Haq was later taken into custody by the local Police on Saturday.

In the assault, the child suffered serious head injuries. Following imaging diagnoses held at the hospital, it was revealed that the child's skull was fractured and suffered internal bleeding.

The incident happened on Friday at around 5 p.m. According to first-hand accounts of the incident, the accused reached the child's house by evening and called him out of the house. However, when the child refused to go out, the accused entered the house and hit the child's head on the floor.

After the child developed physical discomfort and vomiting later in the night, he was taken to a private hospital in Thodupuzha.

The incident was revealed only when the child reached the hospital. Later, the police took the assaulter into custody.

The local residents said that the man had assaulted and beaten up the child many times earlier also. Following this, ASHA workers in the area had warned the family to put a stop to such assaults to the child, neighbours said.

Thodupuzha hospital authorities informed that the child is now out of danger. The migrant labourer family from Assam, who are carpenters, have been living in Undaplavu in Thodaupuzha for the past one year.
