An 8-year-old child, who was suffering from fever, was carried on a temporary boat made from the stems of banana tree in Bihar's Gopalganj on Monday.
Basant Kumar, the uncle of the patient said, "The child has been suffering from fever for the last two days. As there is no transport available in the present situation, we have made a temporary boat to reach a doctor nearby."

Bihar's Sitamarhi flooded after incessant rain
Most parts of Sitamarhi district in Bihar were flooded on Monday after three days of incessant rains, affecting normal life. People had to wade through the chest- or knee-deep water. In some areas, people had to use boats to go for work. Mahesh Rai, a local resident told ETV Bharat, "The area is submerged in floodwater. The district administration must look into the problems faced by locals as the situation is grave here."

Group of youth save a man while drowning in flood
A sexagenarian man was saved by a group of locals while drowning in Bihar's Muzaffarpur district on Monday. According to the reports, the man started drowning after a high tide hits his house in the wee hours. Noticing the crying sound of the man, some youths who were playing near the incident site jumped into the water and saved the man. Later, the man thanked the youth for saving his life.

Bihar government claimed that food packets are dropped by helicopters for flood-affected people. People have taken shelter at higher reaches on national highways and embankments. However, people complain that the government lacks in providing adequate facility to the flood-hit.

400 houses wash away in Bihar's Kishanganj
As many as 400 houses have been washed away in Kishanganj's Daula village due to the incessant rain causing flood in the area. According to a local, 500 families lost their houses in the flood. The road which connects the village to the district was also washed away in the flood.

The flood situation in Bihar's Darbhanga turned grim on Monday with almost every house submerged and in lack of help from administration, the residents of Kalyanpur block are forced to live in temporary houses on a dam nearby.
"The water is up to our knees. We haven't received any help from anybody yet, and are moving to a dam nearby till the time the water level recedes," Suresh, a resident of the area told to ETV Bharat.

Woman gives birth to child on rescue boat in Bihar's Motihari
A 25-year-old woman gave birth to a baby girl on a rescue boat with the help of National Disaster Response Force(NDRF) and ASHA worker on flooded Burhi Gandak at Motihari in East Champaran district on July 26. Mother and baby were shifted to nearby primary health centre by ambulance. Both mother and child are in stable condition.

Assam flood death toll crosses 120 mark, eleven districts affected in Bihar
Guwahati (Assam): The flood situation in Assam remained grim as the death toll crossed 120 mark. At least more than 25 lakh people have been affected in 27 of the states 33 districts on Saturday, a government report said.
Goalpara continued to be the most affected district with 4.7 lakh people hit by the deluge, followed by Barpeta (4.24 lakh) and Morigaon (3.75 lakh), it said.
Lakhs of people have been displaced by the deluge in Assam.
At present, 2,265 villages are flooded and people are forced to live in tents after being displaced and relief camps have been set up to provide shelter.
"132 animal deaths reported at Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve, Bokahat due to drowning and other reasons, so far. This includes 14 rhinos, 5 wild buffaloes, 8 wild boars, 2 swamp deer, 98 hog deer, 1 sambar, 3 porcupines and 1 Python," said the state government.
The Centre said it was in constant touch with the state government and has committed to offer all possible help to mitigate the flood situation. NDRF and ASDMA are distributing relief packets such as dry ration, candle, matchbox, biscuits in the flood-ravaged areas.
The Brahmaputra is flowing above the danger mark at Guwahati, Tezpur, Dhubri and Goalpara towns. Its tributaries such as Dhansiri, Jia Bharali, Kopili, Beki and Sankosh at Golokoganj in Dhubri are also flowing above the danger levels at various places.
ELEVEN DISTRICTS AFFECTED IN BIHAR
Meanwhile, the flood situation in Bihar continued to deteriorate affecting 11 districts. Nearly 15 lakh people have been affected by floods and at least 10 have lost their lives in the deluge, the disaster management department said on Sunday.
According to the department, Darbhanga is the worst-affected district, as 5.36 lakh people there have either been displaced or are trapped inside their homes.
Floodwaters have entered homes in Bishunpur village of Darbhanga district, forcing people to wade through waist-deep water, even as they try and salvage their valuables.
A total of 26 relief camps have been set up and 14,011 people have taken shelter. 423 community kitchens have been set up across 11 districts.
The district authorities have been put on high alert and disaster management teams are continuously monitoring the situation. Twenty-five teams of NDRF and SDRF have been deployed in flood-affected areas.
CM Nitish Kumar has directed the officials to carry out the relief and rescue operations and increase the surveillance in the affected areas. Instructions have been issued to keep a watch on the over-flowing Gandak river which has crossed its danger mark.
