Udalguri (Assam): As many as five people were killed and 24 others suffered serious injuries after a car they were travelling in hit a roadside tree and turned turtle in Assam's Udalguri district on Saturday.
The passengers, part of a wedding party, were on their way to drop the bride home after the culmination of the wedding ceremony.
While Maniram Bodo died on the spot, four others were rushed to the nearby Mangaldoi Hospital, where they succumbed to their injuries.

"The car hit a tree and my brother Maniram Bodo hurled out the passenger door as it flung open due to the impact, " said Maniram Bodo's brother.
The other 24 injured passengers have been admitted to hospitals in Mangaldoi, Tongla, and Guwahati.
