New Delhi: Political analyst Suresh Bafna has said that arresting Former J&K Chief Minister Dr. Farooq Abdullah under the Public Security Act was inappropriate based on his opinions on Article 370.
Speaking to ETV Bharat, political analyst Suresh Bafna said, "He was in favour of Article 370, but it is inappropriate to imprison him for so long."
"As Jammu & Kashmir remains in a state of lockdown with only partial communication lines restored, it is not possible for the government to organise a summit there," he said on the investors summit in the valley.
The investors' summit which was earlier scheduled to take place in October has now been postponed to 2020 amid prevailing uncertainties in the valley.
The political analyst said that Kashmir's situation is in contradiction with reality. He further said that the arrest of Former J&K Chief Minister Dr Farooq Abdullah under the Public Security Act was daft.
Suresh Bafna also said that the government should negotiate with Farooq Abdullah and they should have the freedom to speak to the people so that the political process can start once again. "The government should ensure that there is no violence in the valley," he added.
"There will be no discussion on the issue of Kashmir in the United Nations General Assembly, however, the problems faced by the people after removal of Article 370 can be discussed," he said on the possibility of UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres raising the issue of Kashmir in the upcoming high-level session of the UNGA.
