New Delhi: Pledging for a clean and green environment and to maintain scenic beauty of the Northeastern region, Indian Army is organising various clean environment initiative in the Cantonments of North East India.
This clean initiative is going on North East region is known for its lush green sceneries along with cleaning of Siachen, the world's highest battleground where the troops have removed about 130 tonnes of solid waste as a part of the mega drive to protect the ecosystem of the region.
According to Army officials, a unit of Assam rifles, where are officers comprises mainly from Army along with Myanmar Army is conducting drives to gather the waste from Indo-European Myanmar border areas of Manipur.
This initiative also got the support of local residents from both countries. People were advised to use dustbins to throw the waste in the dustbins. The campaign was organised at Moreh border.
Various units and formations of Army launched the clean initiative in Nagaland's Dimapur where civil administration also participated.
