New Delhi: In yet another attack at the Centre, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Saturday said the "anti-poor government" was using the coronavirus pandemic to make profits.

Taking to Twitter, Gandhi posted a newspaper clipping which reported that the Railways had earned a revenue of Rs 428 crore by running the 'shramik special' trains to ferry migrants during the coronavirus pandemic.

"There are 'clouds' of disease, people are in trouble, can take benefit -- the anti-government is earning by converting a disaster into profit," Gandhi wrote.

The Congress leader made the comments in reference to Prime Minister Modi's earlier remark, where in an interview he recalled that he had dispelled the doubts of defence experts, and said that the presence of clouds could actually help IAF planes to escape the enemy's radars.

According to official data, the Railways spent Rs 2,142 crore on running Shramik Special trains for ferrying stranded migrant workers home during the coronavirus lockdown, but earned a revenue of just Rs 428 crore.
