Man dies of firearm injury suffered during violent protest against CAA in Lucknow
A man died of firearm injury suffered during a violent protest against the amended citizenship law in Lucknow.
"Mohammad Wakeel (25) died of firearm injury here," King George's Medical University (KGMU) Trauma Centre in-charge Sandeep Tiwari told media.
"Two other patients are undergoing treatment in the trauma centre and one of them has firearm injury," he said.
It is not yet clear from where the firing took place.

The Uttar Pradesh capital witnessed unprecedented violence on Thursday afternoon as protests over the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) gained ground and the situation slowly spun out of control.
Protests against CAA began in old city areas in the afternoon and by evening, trouble spread to the city centre Hazratganj.
Police outposts in Madehganj and Thakurganj were set on fire, media persons were attacked and five OB Vans of channels were also set ablaze.
Vehicles of media persons and hawkers were also set on fire. A petrol pump near the UP Press Club was also vandalised. Two reporters were seriously injured in police baton charge.
Several policemen were also injured in the stone pelting, including Circle Officer, Hazratganj, Abhay Misra.
A huge turnout of common people was seen at Koneshwar crossing and Hussainganj which led to fracas with the cops.
Apart from the two police posts, the mob also set several police vehicles on fire. The police fired several rounds in the air and lobbed teargas shells to disperse the mob.

DGP O.P Singh said that police had to fire tear-gas shells to control the situation in Madeyganj area.
"About 5 people have been taken into custody, ADG, law and order P.V, Rama Shastri said.
The tension was palpable in some other areas, especially the Muslim-dominated Old City areas, and police officials were having a tough time maintaining law and order.
Senior officers were camping in the areas disturbed by protests.
"Meanwhile, Congress sources said, UPCC president Ajay Kumar Lallu was detained when he was leading a protest against the law his party says is discriminatory in the busy Parivartan Chowk," near the District Magistrate's office.

Scores of protestors which gathered in the area to protest against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019 indulged into violent clashes with police.
Several vehicles were set ablaze, other public properties were also damaged in the area during the protest. Protests have intensified in several parts of the country after the Parliament gave the nod to the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2019, which became an Act after getting assent from President Ram Nath Kovind.

"Section 144 of the CrPC prohibiting unlawful assembly is in force in the state and no permission for any gathering has been given for December 19," Uttar Pradesh Police Chief O P Singh had said.
