New Delhi: CRPF director general RR Bhatnagar on Thursday called on Union Home Secretary Rajib Gauba at North Block and briefed him about the Anantnag incident where five CRPF personnel lost their lives.

Wednesday's incident was a major attack on security personnel after the Pulwama incident.

The CRPF personnel were keeping a vigil in Anantnag, a major route for Amarnath pilgrims, on Wednesday when bike-borne Al-Umar Mujahiddin terrorists attacked them.

The attack has forced the intelligence as well as the Home Ministry officials to rethink over their counter-terrorism operations following the fact that after a few weeks Amarnath Yatra will start.

Sources in the Home Ministry said that Home Secretary Gauba will brief Home Minister Amit Shah about the incident.

"We really need to give a serious look into our security perspective," an MHA official said.

It was a routine duty on Wednesday for CRPF personnel to keep vigil on the area in Anantnag, a major route for Amarnath pilgrims, when kotor cycle born Al Umar Mujahiddin terrorists attacked the personnel. Al Umar Mujahiddin is a Pakistanbacked terror organisation.

"This is a really shocking incident," said a senior home ministry official on condition of anonymity.

The attack has also forced the intelligence as well as Home Ministry officials to give a rethinking over their counter terrorism operations following the fact that few weeks from now the 45-days long Amarnat Yatra will start.


Conclusion:Sources in the Home Ministry said that Home Secretary Gauba will now brief Home Minister Amit Shah about the incident.

"We really need to give a serious look into our security perspective," the MHA official said.
