Amit Shah: The common factor in Modi govt's cabinet committees

Home Minister Amit Shah has found a place in all the eight key cabinet committees of the Modi government. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who seemed to have put his trust in Shah, is part of six panels, barring the Cabinet Committee on Accommodation and Cabinet Committee on Parliamentary Affairs.

New Delhi: One common factor in the eight key cabinet panels of the Modi government, announced on late Wednesday evening, is Home Minister Amit Shah. Putting his trust in Shah, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has included him as a member in all the eight cabinet committees that have in reconstituted.

PM Modi along with Home Minister Amit Shah are the only two members in the Appointment Committee of Cabinet (ACC).

Though, a first-time minister, Amit Shah has virtually become No. 2 in the Modi's government, who has been given full freedom to work in all the eight cabinet committees.

Ironically, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has got his name only in two committees: Cabinet Committee on Security and Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs.

The Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS), which takes all major decisions related to national security will be headed by PM Modi along with External Affairs Minister S Jayashankar, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Home Minister Amit Shah and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.

The eight committees which have been reconstituted include Appointment Committee of the Cabinet, Cabinet Committee on Accommodation, Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, Cabinet Committee on Parliamentary Affairs, Cabinet Committee on Political Affairs, Cabinet Committee on Security, Cabinet Committee on Investment and Growth and Cabinet Committee on Employment and Skill Development.

Union Minister Smriti Irani is not part of any of the cabinet committee.

Considered as the most significant committee, name of Foreign Minister S Jayashankar, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitaraman, Home Minister Amit Shah and Prime Minister Narendra Modi have been included in the CCS.

There is no place of Union Minister Smriti Zubin Irani in any of the cabinet committee.


Conclusion:The eight committees which have been reconstituted include Appointment Committee of the Cabinet, Cabinet Committee on Accomodaton, Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, Cabinet Committee on Parliamentary Affairs, Cabinet Committee on Political Affairs, Cabinet Committee on Security, Cabinet Committee on Investment and Growth and Cabinet Committee on Emplyment and Skill Development.
