New Delhi: Hours after Shah, criticised Congress and its allies in Maharashtra for blatant use of state power against a particular TV channel, CPM politburo member Hannan Mollah on Wednesday told ETV Bharat that Shah himself is running a fascist policy across India by suppressing freedom of press.

"This person (Amit Shah) is suppressing freedom of press. Why is he protesting the action of the Maharashtra government," said Mollah.

Extending his support to the state government, Mollah said that the particular TV channel was accused of abetting the crime (suicide).

"The government must have some concrete evidence on the basis of which they are taking such actions," said Mollah.

Mollah has vehemently criticised Home Minister Shah and accused him of adopting double standards.

It may be mentioned here that immediately after Mumbai police arrested the CEO of a particular TV channel, Shah said that Congress and its allies have shamed democracy once again.

He said that abuse of power against the TV channel is an attack on individual freedom and the fourth pillar of democracy.

"It reminds us of the emergency. This attack on free press must be and will be opposed," said Shah.
