New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday held an all-party meeting on the coronavirus crisis in Delhi and assured all the leaders that the testing for COVID-19 will be ramped up and charges will be reduced.
No party made any suggestion for further lockdown, government sources told ETV Bharat.
In the all-party meeting, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that by June 18, the Delhi government will start conducting 18,000 COVID-19 tests per day.
"The Home Minister also wanted all political parties and their workers to help in ensuring effective testing of the residents of Delhi," sources said.
"We have suggested that the charges of private hospitals to be fixed and demanded a 50 per cent cut in the COVID-19 testing charges in Delhi," said Delhi BJP chief Adesh Kumar Gupta.
AAP leader Sanjay Singh said that new Tests in Delhi will soon cost only Rs 450. "A new test will be available soon with the cost of Rs 450 only and it will be conducted in 15 minutes," he said adding that ambulance timing will also be reduced from 36 minutes to 20 minutes.
The Congress party demanded that COVID-19 testing to be provided to all and that Rs 10,000 be paid to every family in which a member is infected or in a containment zone.
"Everyone should have the right to testing. Treatment is only possible through testing and tracing policy followed by all countries, and HM Shah has accepted that," said Delhi Congress chief Anil Chaudhary.
On Sunday, Amit Shah held meetings with Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, deputy CM Manish Sisodia, Delhi Health Minister Satyendra Jain, L-G Anil Baijal, Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan and announced a series of measures for the national capital. A committee is also formed by the Centre which will submit its report today on reducing the cost of COVID-19 treatment.
