New Delhi: Launching a scathing attack on Congress President Rahul Gandhi for filing his nomination from Kerala's Wayanad, UP Health Minister Sidharth Nath Singh on Thursday said that the people of Amethi wanted the Gandhi to go, and he obliged.
Speaking exclusively to ETV Bharat, Singh said, "Amethi's populace took a decision and said 'Run, Rahul, Run' - and he obliged. He got scared and ran away to Wayanad, but will be unsuccessful even there."
Playing down any gains the Congress could gain from Gandhi's move, Singh said that the party would be defeated even in the South, as the 'Lotus has now begun to bloom' in the region.
Welcoming the Nishad Party to the NDA fold, Singh said, "Nishad Party definitely enjoys a hold in its community, but even they realise that there is only one party that can work for the welfare of their community."
"They have seen progress under PM Modi and CM Yogi Adityanath, and have hence decided to join hands with us," he added.
Interestingly, Praveen Nishad had defeated the BJP candidate from Gorakhpur, the home turf of UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, in the 2018 Lok Sabha by-elections.
