Alappuzha: As diagnostic samples of deadly diseases like novel Coronavirus and Nipah can be tested in the National Institute of virology Alappuzha hereafter, it enables speedy identification of the positive cases as Kerala will no longer have to rely on The National Institute of Virology in Pune.
The delay in confirming the positive cases causes difficulties to take precautions. Kerala has already reported three positive cases of novel coronavirus across the state and the influx of people coming from corona infected areas to Kerala is huge.

It is why Kerala state Health Minister K.K Shailaja had sought permission from the Union Health Ministry to conduct diagnostic tests at Alappuzha Virology Institute and the central ministry nodded to the state's request considering the emergency situations.
