New Delhi: BJP general secretary Ram Madhav confirmed on Wednesday that party will join hands with the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) to contest Lok Sabha elections in Assam. The party will soon announce the names of the Lok Sabha candidates.
Speaking to ETV Bharat, Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Ripun Bora said, "This alliance will not have any impact on Congress's poll prospect.”
"The drama of AGP to leave BJP alliance and stand with the people of Assam stands exposed. AGP dancing on the tune of Nagpur for their power hunger. The people of Assam must teach these traitors a lesson in the coming election,” Bora added.
In the 2014 general election, BJP bagged 7 seats out of 14 in Assam whereas Congress and All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) bagged 3 seats each.
