New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday urged the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) to work in tandem with the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) for getting indigenous equipment.
Addressing the annual conference on Capacity building of State Disaster Response Force (SDRFs), Shah emphasised that adopting new technologies and upgrading the equipment will help in relief and rescue operations.
"We should grasp new technologies," he said.
Shah said that NDRF has the capability to be number one in the world as far as rescue and relief work is concerned.
"There is always a threat of natural disaster in India and NDRF is ready to play its vital role," Shah highlighted.
Shah has also suggested NDRF to create its own database, which could help the organisation to find out the loopholes and get the solution.
The Home Minister said that an additional four battalions of NDRF should join the existing 12 battalions by 2020.
