"They went to visit the area after getting calls from many professors. But the moment they reached there people in the area started shouting on them to go back...both the leaders were heckled by the agitators," said Kango.

"Since 2019, the BJP government is trying to defame JNU by this or that means...in fact, they are trying to shut down JNU for a long time," said Kango.

On Sunday night more than 50 masked people vandalised the JNU campus and attacked the students with iron roads and other sharp weapons. Many of the students were seriously injured and they were admitted to different hospitals in Delhi.

Following the incident mud-slinging has begun between two different student bodies namely SFI (Affiliated to Left-wing parties) and ABVP (Affiliated to right-wing parties).

Both the student bodies have been accusing each other of carrying out the Sunday violence.

"The left student leader of JNU was attacked and seriously injured, and they (ABVP) are claiming SFI carried the violence," quipped Kango.
