Argument over corona relief fund leads to murder

In a bizarre incident, a fan of Rajnikanth murdered a fan of actor Vijay over an argument over which actor donated most towards the corona relief fund.

Chennai (Tamil Nadu): A mere argument turned deadly between two best friends who are self-proclaimed fans of superstar Rajnikanth and Vijay. One of them killed the other over an argument on which actor donated more to the coronavirus relief fund.

Rajinikanth and Vijay are two of the most celebrated actors in Tamil Nadu. They enjoy a loyal fan following, not just in Tamil Nadu, but across the globe.

On Thursday, Vijay's fan M Yuvaraj (22) and his neighbour were involved in a heated argument with A Dinesh Babu (22), a self-proclaimed fan of Superstar Rajinikanth. Yuvaraj and Dinesh are best friends and have been at home for a month. Reportedly, they were in an inebriated condition when the fight broke out.

According to police sources, they tried to prove that their respective stars donated more than the other person to Covid-19 relief funds. The situation got out of control when Dinesh Babu attacked Yuvaraj and pushed him down. The latter died on the spot leaving everyone shocked.

Meanwhile, Marakanam police officials have arrested A Dinesh Babu in connection with the murder. Further investigation regarding the murder is on.

Yuvaraj's mortal remains were sent to a private hospital in Kalapet, Puducherry, for autopsy.

Recently, actor Vijay donated a sum of Rs 1.3 crore to coronavirus relief efforts to PM-CARES Fund and Chief Minister's Relief Funds of many states. Rajinikanth has contributed Rs 50 lakh to coronavirus relief funds and will donate groceries to members of Nadigar Sangam.
