Surat (Gujarat): Increasing number of coronavirus cases is a matter of grave concern for the country and if the number increases further, there might a severe shortage of ventilators. To overcome the feared shortage, the Surat-based Sahajanand Engineering Company has developed the lowest priced ventilator.
The Sahajanand Company has made a ventilator which weighs just 7 kg and works on 230 volt power. The ventilator has an in-built battery enabling it to function even where there is no supply of electricity.
A unique feature of the ventilator is that it can be operated by connecting it with the battery of an ambulance van or any other automobile so that a patient can be admitted to a hospital on time. The price of the ventilator is just Rs 50,000.
The company’s research and development department developed this ventilator in just ten days. The company has already given one ventilator to the civil hospital.
The company has claimed that it can manufacture as many as 100 ventilators in a day. If the situation becomes grim in coming days the manufacturing capacity can be increased to 250 ventilators per day. The ventilator uses components which are easily available. Besides, the ventilator can be adjusted to meet the requirement of a patient.
