7 dead, 4 injured in car-truck collision in Telangana

Seven people were killed after the car they were travelling in collided with a truck in Rangareddy district.

Rangareddy: Seven people were killed and four others sustained severe injuries when the car they were travelling in met with an accident at Malkapur gate Chevella Mandal in Rangareddy district in Telangana.

The car collided with a truck carrying borewell rig on Wednesday morning, police said.

The victims were on their way to Gurmitkal in Karnataka from the city and a total of 11 members were in the vehicle when the accident occurred, they said.

"Four women, a girl child and driver of the vehicle died on the spot. The injured were admitted to hospital," a police official said.

The deceased have been identified as Asifkhan (50), Saniya (18), Naziya begum (45), Harsha (28), Naziyabhanu (36), Khalid and Bhanu (6).

The injured have been identified as Karina begum, Ayumkhan, Nizarbheg, Anwar Khan.

Over speeding is suspected to be the cause of the mishap, police said.
