Uttarkashi: Five years after a village was adopted by a MP Mala Rajyalakshmi Shah in Uttarakhand, this village is still devoid of basic amenities even today.
Baun village has 40 families in Pithoragarh district of Uttarakhand that lacks basic sanitation facilities.
Under the Centre's Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana, villages are technically adopted to have a new framework for its basic development.
The residents for a long time have been approaching the administration but with no effect.
According to a resident from the village, under the 'adarsh gram' yojana, the village's community hall, its entrance and other houses in the village were supposed to have their roofs constructed. But, none of it has taken place yet.
Also, the roads leading to the village have not been fixed yet, a reason behind the residents facing continuous difficulties.
The locals have also alleged that although Baun has now become an 'adarsh gram', the conditions have still remained the same.
