44 BSF personnel recovered from COVID-19

A total of 44 BSF soldiers were discharged from hospitals on Monday after they recovered. Since yesterday, 44 (Delhi – 22, Tripura-22) earlier tested COVID-19 positive BSF personnel have been discharged from hospitals. They have been put under quarantine as per the protocol.

New Delhi: As many as 44 personnel of the Border Security Force, which had the highest number of COVID-19 cases among the paramilitary forces, were discharged from hospitals on Monday after they recovered.

"Since yesterday, 44 (Delhi – 22, Tripura-22) earlier tested COVID-19 positive BSF personnel have been discharged from hospitals. They have been put under quarantine as per the protocol," the force said in a statement.

The total recoveries in the force have now exceeded active cases, as 192 BSF personnel have recovered from the coronavirus disease and the total number of active cases in BSF is now 163.

Meanwhile, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) saw two fresh cases of coronavirus infection on Monday. The overall active cases in the about 1.62 lakh personnel strong CISF is 114.

As of May 18, three Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel have tested positive for Covid-19. "With 61 new recovery/discharge cases in the past 24 hours, recovered Covid-19 personnel in CRPF surpass active cases. With this, the force now has 116 confirmed cases," said a CRPF official.

The Indo-Tibetan Border Police, that guards the 3,488 km long Line of Actual Control with China, saw no fresh case of Covid-19 in the last 24-hours. So far, 22 ITBP personnel who had contracted Coronavirus have recovered.

This brings down the tally of infected personnel in ITBP to 164.
