24 Naxalites surrender during R-Day celebrations in Chattisgarh

As part of Lone Varratu campaign, 24 Naxalites have surrendered during the Republic Day celebrations organized by the police department. They were sent back home and would be employed soon.

Chikpal: As Republic Day is celebrated with grandeur across the country, Naxalgarh police in Chhattisgarh organised celebrations in the area where as many as 24 Naxalites surrendered.

Superintendent of Police, Abhishek Pallava was seen enjoying with the Naxalites who had earlier surrendered under the Lone Varratu campaign.

Motivated by this, 24 Naxalites have come forward and surrendered. A reward of Rs one lakh was announced earlier for three of the Naxalites. Tricolour flag was hoisted in the midst of surrendered Naxalites.

SP Pallava said that 2020 has been a successful year for the police. With the launch of the Lone Varratu campaign, the police have succeeded as many Naxalites surrendered.

The police had launched 'Man Badam Edka' campaign with 'Lone Varratu'. Last year, 225 Naxalites surrendered under the Lone Varratu campaign. Apart from the Naxalite front, the police also organized several programs under the Civil Action Program, he said.

The police and the district administration have arranged immediate employment for all the surrendered Naxals.

They would be employed to construct buildings, schools, roads, bridges which were damaged by Naxals. Thus, they would contribute to the development of village panchayats. Apart from Dantewada district of Bastar division, police authorities are planning to introduce the campaign in other districts too.
