Amit Shahs stops door-to-door campaign in Deoband following chaos

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday stopped his door to door campaign midway in Deoband in Uttar Pradesh due to chaos and mismanagement at the event. An annoyed Shah chided local BJP leaders over the fiasco and expressed his displeasure.

SAHARANPUR (UTTAR PRADESH): Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday stopped his door-to-door campaign midway in Deoband in Uttar Pradesh due to chaos and mismanagement at the event. An annoyed Shah chided local BJP leaders over the fiasco and expressed his displeasure.

Shah's convoy reached Deoband at around 2.32 pm. Soon after he started his public outreach program, a large crowd gathered at the spot due to which Shah was unable to meet local traders. Noticing the chaotic situation, the officers overseeing his security advised him not to proceed with the program. Shah was able to spend just 17 minutes in Deoband.

According to BJP sources, Shah left for Saharanpur from Deoband. The crucial Islamic Seminary Darul Uloom is located in Deoband. The minority-dominated Deoband constituency is crucial for the BJP as the saffron party won the seat in the 2017 Assembly election and is keen on retaining it this time.

The Union Home Minister's day-long campaigning program will conclude with a door-to-door campaign in the New Shardanagar area in the Saharanpur constituency at 5.30 pm.
