Agartala: Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP national president JP Nadda have condemned the attacks on media houses that took place in Agartala informed BJP MLA Sudip Roy Barman on Monday.

Roy Barman, who paid a visit to the office of Pratibadi Kalam, a media house late in the evening said, "I was in Delhi when these attacks took place. I took part in a meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP national president JP Nadda where Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma was also present. I informed them about the incident and they sharply condemned the attacks."

Briefing the media persons, in front of the newspaper office, Roy Barman said, "I am falling short of words to describe the incident. Such kind of attacks on a media house can’t be accepted. The way intruders stormed inside the building and indulged in violence it can be easily understood that it was a pre-planned attack."

The BJP leader, however, ruled out any possibility of the saffron party behind the attacks. "I don’t think the party has sponsored this attack or supports such vandalism. The attackers are identified from the videos and so the police should book the culprits under non-bailable sections and also under acts of compensation passed by our state assembly," said Roy Barman.

He also urged Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb to ensure that the culprits are arrested at the earliest. Replying to a query, he said, "The party should also come out clean and take disciplinary actions against those who are involved in this."

According to Roy Barman, it was an act committed by some opportunistic party workers who had crossed all their limits to prove loyalty towards the party. "They can never be well-wishers of BJP," he added.
