New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi Wednesday urged vice-chancellors of all universities to achieve the goal of turning their universities into a multi-disciplinary institution to provide flexibility to students so that they can realise their potential and participate in the goal of national development.

“We want that all universities should be multi-disciplinary as we want to give students flexibility,” Prime Minister Modi said in his address to the 95th annual meet of the Association of Indian Universities and National Seminar of Vice-Chancellors. The event was organised by Ahmedabad based Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Open University through a video link.

In the meeting, which was organised on the 130th birth anniversary of Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar, the architect of the Indian constitution, Prime Minister Modi said Dr Ambedkar considered knowledge, self-respect and politeness as his three revered deities.

Second, what is their potential if they are properly taught? And, third, what they want to do?”
