Air India reported Rs 3,600 crore cash loss in previous fiscal

Air India reported a cash loss of Rs 3600 crore in the financial year 2019 - 20 and the national carrier performed better than 2018 - 19 fiscal year in which it posted a net loss of Rs 8556 crore. A lot of international traffic in which Air India had huge share played to the airline's advantage during the lockdown.

New Delhi: National carrier Air India reported a cash loss of Rs 3,600 crore in the previous financial year, the airline's chairman and managing director Rajiv Bansal said on Tuesday.

"Last year, we underwent a cash loss of about Rs 3,600 crore that was significantly lesser as compare to the previous year of 2018-19," said Rajiv Bansal in a press conference.

The national carrier reported a net loss of Rs 8,556.35 crore in 2018-19.

"Our financial have improved every quarter. The second quarter was better than the first quarter. The third quarter has been better. This is a good traffic season. A lot of international traffic has been there to various destinations particularly the US," he added.

Union Minister for Civil Aviation Hardeep Singh Puri said that under the Vande Bharat Mission, 4.2 million passengers were brought back to India and Air India share is 10 lakh plus i.e. around 25 per cent.

On bidding process of the airline, the minister said the government has received multiple bids and it will be opened on January 5, 2021.

Airports Authority of India (AAI) chairman Arvind Singh said that the government is planning to hold next round of privatisation of airports in the first half of next year.
