Air Force to get surface-to-air missile from Bharat Dynamics

Bharat Dynamics Ltd (BDL) flagged off the first missile of the first firing unit of the Medium Range Surface to Air Missile (MRSAM) for delivery to the Indian Air Force from its Kanchanbagh unit in Hyderabad on Tuesday.

Hyderabad: Bharat Dynamics Ltd (BDL) flagged off the first missile of the first firing unit of the Medium Range Surface to Air Missile (MRSAM) for delivery to the Indian Air Force from its Kanchanbagh unit in Hyderabad on Tuesday.

These missiles are developed by Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) in association with Israel and manufactured by BDL. It has already completed its Navy order. It is now simultaneously working on orders placed by the Army and Air Force.

The medium range missile has been designed to neutralize enemy aerial threats that enemies aeroplanes, helicopters, guided bombs and cruise missiles with hi-tech modern radio frequency. which are at a maximum distance of 70 km. MRSAM is powered by an indigenously developed dual-pulse rocket motor and a dual control system to impart the required maneuverability at the terminal phase, an official from BDL said.
