Hyderabad: Bodies of at least 13 Naxals were recovered on Friday from the forest area of Etapalli in Gadchiroli district where an encounter took place between the C-60 unit of Maharashtra Police and Naxals.
According to Sandip Patil, Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG), Gadchiroli, the operation was a huge success for Maharashtra Police and there is a possibility that more Naxals were wiped out in the encounter.
The encounter between Maharashtra Police and Naxal's broke out during early morning on Friday at Paydi-Kotmi forest in Etapalli.

28.04.21: Two Maoists were killed in an encounter with Gadchiroli police in the gatta-jambia forest in Etapalli tehsil in Maharashtra.
28.03.21: Gadchiroli police killed five Maoists, including a top-ranked operative, in an operation. The operation was launched on Friday in the Khobramendha area of Kurkheda tehsil, in north Gadchiroli. A huge cache of arms and ammunition were seized from them during the operation at Kurkheda tehsil of Gadchiroli that borders Chhattisgarh. The operation was led by the C-60 commandos of the anti-Naxal operations (ano) of The Maharashtra police.
18.10.2020: The Anti-Naxal Squad (ANS) commandos killed five cadres of the Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist), including three women cadres, in the Kosmi-Kisneli forests under Dhanora Taluka (revenue sub-division) in Gadchiroli District of Maharashtra.
02.05.20: A senior woman ‘commander’ of the Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) was killed in an encounter with Security Forces (SFs) during a search operation in the forests of Sinbhatti under Pendhra division near Jaravandi village under Jarawandi Police Station limits in Gadchiroli District of Maharashtra.
15.09.2019: At least two Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) cadres were killed and five others injured in an encounter with the Security Forces (SFs) in the Narkasa forest area in Gadchiroli district of Maharashtra.
27.04.2019: Two women Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) cadres, including a senior cadre carrying a reward of Rs1.6 million on her head, were shot dead in an encounter with Security Forces (SFs) near Koti village in Bhamragad sub-division in Gadchiroli District of Maharashtra.
28.02.2019: At least eight Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) cadres, including five women, were killed in an encounter in Gadchiroli District of Maharashtra.
22.04.2018: 37 hardcore Naxals were killed in Maharashtra’s Gadchiroli district. Of the 37 bodies recovered so far, 16 have been identified, police said, adding that the identified Naxals carried a combined reward of Rs 1.06 crore, they said. The operation was the result of coordination between C-60 commandos of the Maharashtra Police in hot pursuit of Naxals.
06.12.2017: Seven Maoists, including five women, were gunned down in an encounter with the police in Maharashtra's Gadchiroli district. The skirmish took place around 7 am at a forest in Kalled village, about 15 kms north of Zinganoor outpost in Sironcha tehsil of Gadchiroli, when a squad of C-60 commandos (Maharashtra police's special anti-Maoist unit) was out on the anti-Maoist operation.
18.02.2014: Seven CPI-Maoist cadres were killed in an encounter with Maharashtra Police near Alitola village in Gadchiroli District.
