5 arrested for Gold loan fraud in Telangana

Five people have been nabbed for absconding with 500kgs of gold worth Rs. 34 crore. The accused were running an interest-free loan scam.

Chennai (Tamil Nadu): Five people have been arrested in Telangana for allegedly absconding with 500 kg gold jewellery on interest-free loans scam. The worth of this gold jewelry is Rs 34 crore.

There was a Gold jewelry mortgage shop in Chennai named Ruby Jewelers and Bankers. They advertised interest-free jewelry mortgages for followers of Islam.

They have mortgaged up to 500 kg of gold jewellery, then absconded. So, Umar Ali from Vyasarpadi lodged a complaint at the police station.

Based on this complaint, the police filed a case and conducted an investigation. The case was transferred to the Economic offences Wing on May 3 last year.

Following this, Additional Director of Police Abash Kumar, Economic offences Wing Chief Kalpana Naik Under direct observation Inspector Meena and Thillai Nadarajan led by Inspector Karthikeyan, Constables Uma Shankar, Sehgar and Stalin arrested five persons in Telangana.

Accused were identified as Syed Raghuman, his brother Anisur Raghuman and employees Rikana, Sajitha and Shahina. The five were produced in court and lodged in the Chennai Puzhal Jail. An investigation is underway.
